He tries to be. [Life has never been kind to Cassian and all things considered he could have turned up worse. Jaune's comment makes Kay chuckle because of how it's worded.] It was. But now we are here and we know that our world gets better.

It wouldn't upset me. [That would require giving fucks and Kay is in negative numbers when it comes to those.] It was my fault, not yours, so she has no reason to put a bounty on your head.

[Not like Em needs good reasons to do anything she does.] Er...maybe in the future we can give it a try? Right now, after joining the Attleton's office as a volunteer deputy that might not be the best idea. Cassian could get mad. Em doing it to annoys us he would understand but to do it on purpose...not so much.

That's good that you know that. Did you go and visit the Dream Docks? [He assumes that's what Kay meant.]

Yeah, but...I'm more annoying than you are. And if it wouldn't upset you, she has less of a reason to. It's okay. I don't mind.

We are. You work for Nova City, correct? Cassian can get mad at everyone, it's a talent of his.

I work for Weiss Schnee, the best guardian around. [Pauses.] Cassian can be a close second. But if he gets mad at me, it's not as personal as him getting mad at you. The worst he could do is stop giving me steaks and if he does that I'll just walk to his office wearing the worst spandex I can find.

What are the dream docks about? I've only heard a little about them. [Which is the reason why he wasn't very interested in them.]

You are much nicer than her as well. [Then again, so are rocks. But Kay keeps that to himself because he doesn't dislike Emerald.]

I've met Weiss, she's really nice. And I think they're both good Guardians, for different reasons. [Kay chuckles.] You do that and Cassian will either die on the spot or shoot you. I'm not sure which option would be worse.

You go there and you're unconscious for a week and you're given new memories of what's happened on your world. But sometimes there are permanent consequences. You should keep that in mind if you decide to go.

Probably, but I'm not always the most pleasant person to talk to. [He's not wrong.]

I owe Weiss a lot, but you're right. I trust Cassian to do the right thing. [Grins] Getting shot hurts, but it wouldn't leave any permanent damage. I think Cassian dying would be worse. But I'd still rather not get shot. Please.

I can tell you now that I won't. Me being unconscious for a week would drive Cassian insane with anxiety. And who knows what kind of trouble he will get himself into when I'm not looking. But I can see how useful the dream docks could be.

I enjoyed all our conversations so far. [Truly.]

Are you from the same world, by any chance? He always tries to do that. [With more or less success.] Let's not have anybody injured, no.

I mean you could both be unconscious together. I've done it before with Weiss and Sun.

Me too, but I think that's more thanks to you. It's hard to get salty with someone so...sparkly.

[He nods.] We were enemies on our world, but to be perfectly honest I didn't know Emerald very well until I ended up here. She's a jerk, but she's an upfront jerk. I don't know, it's weird. Tries to shoot people, or tries to do the right thing? It's fine, it's not like it would injure me.

We could but we have responsibilities and jobs, so perhaps in the future. I already know all I wanted to know about my world. Besides, my whole team died, so it isn't as if I'd learn anything about how they are doing. But maybe Cassian would like to see first hand how the Rebellion is doing.

[Kay almost laughs at that. ] Sparkly. heh, thank you.

I think I understand that kind of relationship. Sometimes you just get used to the jerkiness too. But she could still hurt you, Jaune.

You're so responsible. The only person I can think of who's as serious about their job as you is probably Weiss. [There's a flash of shock, and immediately Jaune regrets mentioning it.] I-- I'm sorry. I wasn't even thinking. It probably won't work, since it only goes off of your memories.

Don't thank me. Just voicing the truth. [Smirks.]

Yeah. Like jerky. I'm hungry now. [Shrugs.] It's good practice for worse things.

Thank you, I take that as teh highest compliment. [Kay waves a hand, trying to make Jaune feel better.] It's okay, don't worry. I'm at peace with it.

[He made a choice before he died and he does not regret it.]

You need to do exercise to get abs, just eating healthy won't do the trick.

At least someone knows better. I need to remember Cassian about it every now and then. He's kind of a workaholic.
