I can keep a secret. [Apparently. He's worried, scared she's hurt, or wrong about being traumatized, but he doesn't say any of that out loud.]

[ Okay she's gonna hang up and go find his apartment. Has she even been there before?? Who knows. But she probably has his address at least.

Even if he said it's unlocked, she still knocks first. It's only polite. ]

[Jaune has some kind of handheld console in his hands, but he hasn't actually played it since Weiss messaged him. He's been too preoccupied worrying about her. But when she knocks and announces herself, some of the tension leaves his shoulders.]

Come on in.

[ Weiss opens the door and closes it behind her. And she doesn't even come in, she just presses her back to the door and says it. ]

Sun proposed to me.

[Sun--

Jaune isn't even sure what to say at first. He's hit by a wave of emotions, both good and...not so good. Mostly, he's just shocked. Wow. Weiss is probably shocked too. And ecstatic. And lots of other things and are they really at the age where marriage is a thing now and he knows a lot of huntresses and huntsman get married pretty young because what choice is there but this is happening really really fast and sometimes he forgets Weiss and Sun are older than him and just--

Take a deep breath.]

That's-- No wonder you're...being so weird. I would be too if Sun proposed to me. We mean propose propose right, not proposing you try something new for dinner or learn a sport or and I'm not saying that he would propose to me your chances are definitely a lot higher but-- uhm... [Please sit down Weiss or he'll have to stand up and he smiles, trying not to overwhelm her.] You said yes, right?

I... didn't say anything.

[ It takes her a few seconds to pipe up again, just kind of playing with her own fingers and looking down. Just when Jaune looks like he's about to speak she starts again. ]

I said I wanted to say yes and Sun told me I could think about it and then we ate burgers and watched a movie.

[ And then she didn't sleep all night because she was up thinking about it all night and having whiplash going back and forth between euphoria and fear. ]

[He hates the silence, but he waits. When she's done he stands up and walks over because he's not sure what to do.]

Okay, well...wanting to say yes is kind of like saying yes and eating burgers is good. At least I think it's good.

[He leans against the wall, nervously bouncing back and forth on his heels.]

Why not say yes? [He thinks he kind of has an idea as to why. He knows more about Weiss's romantic past than a lot of people--how he fit into that, or didn't, included. But he doesn't want to assume and he'd rather hear her thoughts about it.]

He's not upset that I haven't said yes immediately. He even told me I could think about it, that he knew that I was just the kind of person who needed to think about things.

[ Which. He's absolutely right. She does that all the time. Sometimes it takes a couple of minutes, sometimes a couple of days. Sometimes she just needs a little time to process and sort out what's important to her. ]

What happens when one of us disappears? Not just him- I don't want to disappear and one day another Weiss appears and he has to pretend he's okay that his own wife doesn't remember anything about him besides that he likes Blake. That's a promise to spend our lives together and I want to make it, but it'll be that much worse when what always happens happens.

Weird, it's like the guy asking to marry you understands what kind of person you are or something.

[That's kind of what he thought. Just dating is hard in Genessia when you don't know if one day the person you like is going to be around--or remember you. But marriage? In its own way, it's probably much scarier to risk someone not remember you, than to know that they might die like in Remnant. He doesn't say anything for a while.]

We won't let that happen. You said part of the GSRF is to figure out how to give us a choice about whether we can stay here or not. Let's figure something out. But, until that happens...I think you should do it. You've both been through way too much to not do this because of what might happen. You both deserve to be happy for as long as you can.

[ It honestly means a lot to hear that from someone who's been through tons and tons of crap here. He's been through a lot, and he gets why it'd be a real fear. Maybe he hasn't been through it as many times as Weiss has, or as hurtfully, but it's certainly happened. And it's been strange, and difficult, and he still thinks she should try.

Jaune's a good friend, and one who could easily ruin this whole thing by persuading her the other way because she trusts him and would listen to him on this. And he says she should go for it. Part of her already knew that she really should trust in herself, that sometimes it was okay to want the things she wanted and it didn't mean there was something wrong with her for it.

It's still a big life step though, and she wants to think it through carefully. It isn't as if she hasn't already considered it, but in a theoretically way she'd even told Yang that she would say no- because it was something she didn't think would happen so soon. It was something she could just logic away as 'these are x circumstances and i need y circumstances to agree.' ]

Do you think it's weird that I don't want to go back to Remnant?

[ She's sure that's not just because of Sun. Sun is an important part of it, but Weiss is too. Who she is now is not the same as the Weiss from Remnant, even if she still goes back once a year for memories. That's more to make sure she can handle whatever current comes her way than because she feels like that's her anymore. But she wants to hear what Jaune has to say about that. Because identity is a huge issue to her, and she's thought a lot about staying here and most people.. most people honestly don't get it. They want to go home, and they look at her like she's crazy because she has something to go back to there. She's not dead, she just honestly wants to stay in Genessia. As much as her fears with losing Sun, it would also mean committing, officially and legally, to giving up on that person back home. She didn't share that part with Sun. She hadn't thought of it when they were talking, but it was something else she'd let come to her mind. Another reason that made things more confusing rather than a pro or con. ]

[Jaune is more than aware that he hasn't always been the friend Weiss deserves, and yet she still gave him a chance. He had hurt her, and she had made sure there were consequences, but she hadn't ever fully cut him out of her life. It means more than she probably knows, and when it comes down to it, especially now, he just wants her to be happy. More than anything, that's what he wants. It makes him happy. And he cares about Sun too, and wants to get to know him better. They're good people. It doesn't even take any hesitation on his part to answer this time, he shakes his head, smiling faintly.]

Nah, not really. You have a lot of important memories here. And memories are kind of what make us...us. Along with what we do.

And I don't want to go back. I'm not saying that what's back there isn't important, it is-- But if I had never been here, I wouldn't have gotten to be friends with you. Real friends with you. And there would have been a lot of people I'd never met and it... you've done so much here. You've helped a lot of people. It's not weird.

[ She's glad that he understands that, that it makes sense. ]

Marrying Sun would be committing to that, too. To not being that Weiss anymore, in a more permanent sense of the word. I would literally have a different name unless Sun wants to be Sun Schnee.

[ Which.. he could be, but she's not sure how he'd feel about that. She wants their names to match though, and she does still want to be a Schnee. That's very important to her. ]

That's... a big step. Even if I say I don't want to go back, that's really real. [ She smiles. ] I'm glad we're real friends too. You're the only one I've told, you know.

Weiss Wukong. Sounds better than Sunny Snow, which just sounds like some kind of breakfast. Hey, what does Wukong mean anyway?

It is. But it's a good one. As much as you might act like you're less impulsive than everyone else, I've never known you to not go for something, or someone who mattered to you. Go be happy. [He bites his lip, trying to stop himself from grinning but failing.] Stop giving me praise that you know is working. But don't worry, I'll keep it secret until you're ready.

"Wu" means awareness and "kong" means vacuity. They're opposites, but it's just like- Did no one tell you about the fairy tales from other worlds? Sun Wukong is the name of a famous warrior known as the Monkey King from a story called Journey to the West in some of the other worlds.

[ Wow, rude. She folds her arms. ]

I am less impulsive. I just.. happen to have very good instincts so they're usually right the first time. [ She nods, giving him a lopsided smile. It's a big step. ] I still.. I'm going to think about it, but this helped a lot, Jaune.

[ Weiss absent-mindedly pulls a necklace out from under her shirt, just playing with it in her fingers as she thinks. It's got the ring on it next to the pendant. She hasn't taken it off since she got it. ]

I know about some fairy tales! Just not all of them. [He makes a face.] Is that racist?

It's not about instincts, it's about...being smart, and recognizing the options and doing the best thing. I think. Anytime Weiss. Hey, since you're-- [He's looking at her necklace and ring. Of course it would be that color scheme.] already here, you wanna do something? Sun chose that?

I think the near-godlike-abilities and being a legendary hero who also had monkey parts was more flattering than racist. Plus, Sun was excited when he found out and the stories are usually from places that don't even have faunus.

[ So she's pretty sure it's not. She perks up when he asks her if she wants to do something. ]

I think for today, I should really concentrate on this. I don't want to keep him waiting for too long. But after I make my decision, can I count on you to plan either a celebration or consolation... event? [ Just do something fun for them. Jaune can be in charge of that. ] He did. Look- [ She presses something on the pendant from the necklace and it crops up with a hologram. It scrolls through a couple of pictures of them- cute ones they shared with each other, selfies, then the "Will you marry me?" message. Weiss can't help but smile brightly as she watches it again. ] It's how he asked.

Whoa...that's cool! I'll have to read his story, as long as it isn't super long. Sounds a lot more flattering than a girl who was burned at the stake.

[Now that he knows she's okay, he's not too disappointed when she rejects his offer. In fact, his entire face brightens that same way it did when Pyrrha told him he was a gifted leader and Sun and Neptune said they were junior detectives. He even gasps, speaking more quickly than usual as his excitement takes over.] Weiss, I'll give you the best celebration event you could ask for! [Celebration, not consolation. He can be and usually is optimistic when it comes to others.] I won't let you down. I just hope you're prepared for an Arc-level event because they can get pretty awesome. [He quiets down when she turns on the hologram. It seems intimate, and cute, seeing them so happy and vulnerable to eachother-- and then there's that question. His expression softens almost fondly, his voice quiet now.] I didn't know Sun could be so romantic.

Joan of Arc, right? Just because that's how she ended didn't mean that's all she was. She lead armies and brought hope to her side of the war. She was only burned because the opposition was afraid of what she would do if she continued, so they made up a bunch of charges. She's remembered as a hero.

[ Though Weiss figures Jaune would be the type to focus more on the end rather than what happened before that in relation to himself. He always seemed a little down on himself, which Weiss admittedly didn't always help with but she was trying to be better about it.

Weiss smiles back fondly. She trusts he'll take care of.. well, whatever event it ends up being. ] His visible muscles may be rock solid, but his heart isn't. [ He's a softy and she loves him.. and she's glad she can share this with Jaune. ]

A hero who heard voices, had to dress as a man and died when she was nineteen. That world really doesn't know how to thank its heroes.

[He doesn't realize Weiss is trying to encourage him, the attempt going way over his head. But he also doesn't realize what he's doing. Making fun of himself, or in this case, his namesake just seems normal now.

He nods, reaching to put a hand on Weiss's shoulder if she lets him.] I trust that you will protect him.
