Are you just saying I'm the best brother because you only have sisters back home? I have brother notes but they probably don't count and literally anyone could be the best in comparison probably. Unless we compare to Dirk, which now that I'm thinking on it it's a little depressing because I've known you a lot longer than him now in a weird sort of way so maybe it's also a shit comparison and he's the best too I guess. Let's not invalidate the potential. You can both be the best. I probably kind of blow at it but okay.

I don't know if you noticed, but I can be pretty sappy. [his eyes are bright. like when he's holding back tears but he's also deeply moved about something. it feels good to be able to show emotion. for too long, he's just felt numb. he's not uncomfortable with it, but he feels like dave might be, so he tries to tone it down. dave knows. he knows how important it is to dave.]

Right. [he'll just hug-cling to dave for a moment until dave is ready to move. then he'll go grab his christmas present.]

Yeah, you can. [ and it's so important. showing emotions is important and he still struggles thinking it's okay sometimes. jaune is usually really expressive, which is the complete opposite of the last "brother" he had. some part of his head needs to see jaune show something all over his face first to be comfortable doing it himself. like gaining permission. how stupid.

he is not ready to move. he wants to stay there and be held. he has all the time in the world. but after enough time for it to become somewhat awkward, he removes himself.
